Ekaterina Vyun recently finished an internship with the City of Redlands as a participant in Crafton Hills College’s internship program. The cities of Yucaipa and Calimesa will soon be added to this program, which provides practical work experience to CHC students who excel academically and want to experience real world careers.

Dr. Takesha Valentine Cooper: Leadership, Education and Love

When she could not afford to attend her first choice of UCLA, Takesha Cooper began her higher education journey at Crafton Hills College. Cooper now realizes how fate worked in her favor, and beginning her higher education journey at Crafton was the absolute best choice. Cooper notes that being mentored by Mr. E (Computer Science Professor Jay Edwards), taking physics classes from Mr. Thurman, getting involved in student leadership through the Associated Students, becoming president of the campus’s Black Student Union, and meeting her future husband were a few of the highlights that have prompted her to become an advocate for community colleges.

Special Delivery: Crafton families in need treated to holiday gift exchange at annual luncheon

Christmas came early for more than a dozen Crafton Hills College families, all thanks to a longstanding holiday tradition that started in the mid-1990s. On Dec. 15, Good Ol’ Saint Nick and his merry elves from the College’s Psychology Club surprised guests with a catered lunch and bags filled with Barbies, trucks, dinosaurs, and much, much more.

When Crafton Hills College’s next Fire Academy launches on Jan. 16, 2024, cadets will have a new tool to work with: a state-of-the-art Public Safety Training Center. Program alumni received a sneak peek of the facility on Dec. 12, when instructors and Interim Fire Academy Chief Ryan Harold led tours and spoke about the center’s myriad benefits.

'Eyes of Freedom' Memorial returns to Crafton Hills College

The “Eyes of Freedom” memorial made its way to Crafton Hills College earlier this month after a stop in the Midwest. CHC leadership along with other members of the campus community and local politicians gathered inside the Roadrunner Café on Dec. 4 to formally welcome the exhibit to campus, marking the second time “Freedom” has been displayed at the College. Created by Ohio-based artist Anita Miller, “Eyes of Freedom” tells the story of 22 Marines and one Navy Corpsman who lost their lives during the Iraq War in 2005. The men were deployed with Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, which suffered some of the heaviest U.S. casualties during the conflict.

Crafton Hills College's Respiratory Care Program Captures Third Place in National Contest

Crafton Hills College’s respiratory care program continues to distinguish itself as a premier training program, among the nation’s best, by placing third in the Sputum Bowl, which, despite its humorously unglamorous name, is the time-honored competition among teams from respiratory therapy educational programs that have won their state’s Sputum Bowl contests to earn the right to compete on the national level. This event was held Nov. 5-8 in Nashville, TN, at the annual convention of the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC).
