The San Bernardino Community College District (SBCCD) and Crafton Hills College (CHC) marked a significant milestone on Wednesday, May 31, with a groundbreaking event for the highly anticipated Finkelstein Performing Arts Center. This state-of-the-art facility will serve as the new home for the college's music, theater, and dance programs, providing cutting-edge instructional spaces for students to hone their artistic talents.

Crafton Hills College’s Class of 2023 made history by earning more than 900 degrees and 673 certificates­—the highest total earned in the college’s 50-plus year history.

Crafton Hills College Fire Academy Chief Mike Alder always encourages his cadets to leave the fire service better than they found it. And after 40 years in the profession, many would agree that Alder did just that.

The 108th basic firefighter training academy graduation, held on May 19, recognized 25 cadets whose motto “one team, one dream” shined through. “You are the very best academy I’ve ever seen come through here,” said Chief Mike Alder who followed up that statement by disclosing that he has never said that.

For many college students, “it’s a jungle out there.” But for 60 Crafton Hills College EOP&S, CalWORKs, CARE, Guardian Scholars and DREAMers, the adventure is just getting started.

Roadrunners who made the Dean’s List were the special guests of honor at a tea with – you guessed it – the Deans of Crafton Hills College. Held Wednesday, April 24 in Crafton Hall, the afternoon event offered a catered lunch, a variety of activities such as raffles with Crafton swag, a group photo and a chance to interact with fellow Roadrunners and, of course, deans and other administrators while playing a bingo game.

When Dr. Nathan Gonzales came out in the early 1990s as an undergrad student at a small, independent, conservative school, things were very different than today.

Crafton Hills College held their first ever athletics award banquet on May 10. Coaches presented student athletes with conference placement awards, second year athlete acknowledgements, scholar athlete certificates, and plaques for the following team MVP and athlete of the year awards.

To celebrate the various backgrounds of the Crafton Hills College community, the College’s Multicultural Club hosted the first-ever Multicultural Day on campus Thursday, May 5.
